The School For Scandal

Image
My Education Scandal Cartoon for Scotland Matters has now gone live. Entitled “School for Scandal”, Scotland Matters draws attention to he failure of the SNP government. There is an underlying message of the Education Scandal Cartoon. Being in the SNP’s leadership guaranteed to be implicated in a scandal. We have come to a point in history where something like an Education Scandal Cartoon has become unsurprising. Jordan Peterson remarked that it would be a refreshing change to see evidence of competence amongst politicians. Perhaps that saying is true: “If you can’t do it, then teach it.” (…but what if you can’t teach? – you can always become a politician.) Mark Twain said that politicians are like diapers. Both must be changed frequently for the same reason. If you enjoyed this cartoon, why not see more of my political work? Political Cartoon: TITANIC FAILURES

Image
I was commissioned to create a “Titanic Failures’ political cartoon for Scotland Matters. They are hoping to draw attention to the issues around the Ferry Building Trade in Glasgow. It would seem the entire project is not only way over budget and way behind it’s time line – the ship building company had to be nationalised to avoid it going into bankruptcy. Something fishy is going on here! If you enjoyed my thoughts along with this cartoon, why not go and browse more of my work? Systemic Racism in Britain.

Image
Seeing Systemic Racism in Britain is a matter of choice. If you begin with the conviction that Systemic Racism its the only explanation for inequalities that divide British Society, you are sure to find evidence of it. You begin with a fixed belief and cherry-pick facts and information to confirm your suspicions.   You are no better than a religious fanatic claiming that the world was created in six days. Having grown up in Apartheid South Africa and strongly opposing racism of the systemic sort, I find no evidence of it in Britain.  I agree with the Ministerial findings on Systemic Racism in Britain. There simply isn't a more tolerant and less racist country in the world.  I am proud to be British! If you enjoyed my thoughts along with this cartoon, why not go and browse more of my work? The President Joe Biden Puppetry

Image
How long will the paper man last? President Joe Biden hardly seems up to the challenge of being an American President. But for now, the President is duty-bound to stagger forward no matter how great the  cost to himself.  The close circle of staffers around him appear to be working around the clock to disguise the evidence of his decline. Which means Joe Biden's  stuck in the Oval Office until something finally snaps - which I fear may not be far off. This isn't a Presidency - this is a hostage situation. Jenny Jones & The Advancement of Tyranny

Image
MP Jenny Jones Identifies All Men as Offenders. In the wake of the murder of  Sarah Everard, f or MP Jenny Jones to recommend men are placed under a curfew is based on the false assumption that all men are inclined to violence against women. That is simply not true.  It's Guilt By Association and Identity Politics.  A Socialist Trope on a slippery slope that only advances tyranny.  I understand how sick women must be of the constant leering, groping and innuendo some lesser men are inclined too.  But giving more power to the State to stop this pestering and violence is insanity.  No amount of legislating, puffery and opportunistic point-scoring in the corridors of power can make women safer on the street. You don't make women safer by disempowering men.  You make women safer by creating a society where violence against women is simply not tolerated by every other man in a society. So the problem is...

Challenge the Establishment.

Image
Do not thoughtlessly denigrate the society or the culture you have inherited. It is your redemption. The Youth will – and must – always challenge the Establishment. It is necessary to keep The Establishment effective and efficient. The Youth challenge The Establishment as part of the process of asserting their own independence and identity. This process should forge new ideas in the political landscape which will positively effect the trajectory of a society. Yet the youth don’t always know better. They are idealists. They are often possessed by ideologies that are proven to be corrosive to a civilisation. That is why the Establishment endures. It is the result of competing political ideas that have endured the test of time. The Establishment may be crusty, old and safe – but it works.  Like the human body, the Establishment may not be perfect – but it is the evolutionary solution for a organism to prosper. Simply put: The Establishment works for the time being. When someone comes ...

Why Black Lives Matter More.

Image
Until all lives matter, no lives matter. We all live in an overly politically-correct world. Insisting that black lives are more vulnerable than the other lives is untrue and  divisive . UK and USA data doesn’t support any claim that  Black Lives are less important or in greater danger . In fact, one can only find  evidence to the contrary . Black Lives Matter are most active in UK and USA. These countries have massive social security programmes. Most immigrants have come to expect support from Government. It benefits them to claim extraordinary levels of ‘fear, anxiety and distress’ because it qualifies them for more of the mothering Government’s resources. An accusation of ‘racism’ is the trump card in this game of extortion. The louder Black Lives Matter protestors screech about ‘systemic racism’, the more the State accedes to their demands. The noisiest mouths get fed first. This is incentivising interlopers and indigents to act like young Cuckoos. The foundati...

Practice What You Preach

Image
If you don’t do as you prescribe, you will undermine your own authority. Practice what you preach. I couldn’t help but notice that members of the press were standing on top of each other whilst confronting a local politician about why he didn’t observe the Social Distancing Guidelines. Questions like : “Do you think the rules don’t apply to you?” are important but seem hollow when the accusers are part of a melange of hot sweaty bodies crushing together to assail the hapless father and daughter. This seems to suggest all the members of the upper echelons of society including the upper class, intelligentsia, celebrities, journalists and politicians see themselves as untouchable but virtue of their status. The fact that the press absent-mindedly trip over one another to ask that one incisive, damning question reveals their sanctimonious self-importance. Whose pandemic is it, anyway? Since we are currently still social distancing and have oodles of time, why not go and browse more of my w...

Lifting the Lockdown… or not.

Image
Lifting the Lockdown won’t be easy. It’s a real case of try and see. People have become used to inactivity and are predictably reluctant to re-embrace such frenzied activity for less quality of life. People are beginning to realise that living off the state is much better bargain. I prefer to live on the dole now. The problem is that we all can’t sit around and suckle on the tits of the State. Sooner or later we are going to be lifting the lockdown because someone has to make the money to pay the taxes to feed the indigent and supply the infrastructure. That is the biggest problem with socialism. It sounds OK to the idealogue but it’s practically unsustainable. Think about it. Unless the State prints the money who is going to drive tax revenue? Answer: Capitalism. The only successful socialist models combine both financial modalities in order to survive. Think about that while you lounge about and save the world from a CoVid apocalypse. Oh the absurdity of it all. Save the world and do...

Why The Liberal Media Hate Trump.

Image
The Liberal Media hate Trump. They don’t hate him because he is evil, not because he is a monster, or a fool, or an autocrat. He could be all of those things, but they hate Trump because he is not one of them. The loathing and fear is mutual. The liberal media and the Democratic political class loathe, fear and hate Trump because he stands for conservatism. In his inaugural speech Trump promised a return to Capitalism and less State involvement in the economy. He has the power to change everything they have wanted to achieve with a stroke of a pen and he has not hesitated to deliver on his promise. Democracy and Socialism are practically the same. Rule by the majority vote for the benefit of the people. The only difference between Democracy and Socialism is that the State owns the means of production for the benefit of the people. The rest is mere detail. Democratic Socialism is simply Socialism masquerading as Democracy for political expedience. The outcome will always be the same. Th...

We Must Not Trade Liberty for Safety.

Image
We must not trade liberty for safety. During the Corona Virus Pandemic, it’s very tempting to allow governmental bureaucrats to take over and fix things for us. But we must ensure that ultimate self-determination is handed back to the nation after the crisis is over. Do not trade liberty for safety In the ‘The Social Contract’ Rousseau argues that citizens relinquish their rights to self-defence to the State who in turn promises to protect them. That was a matter of military consideration. Now, hundreds of years later it seems the State is overreaching to the point of even telling us what dangers we ought to fear and forcing us to behave in a manner that seems contrary to common sense. When in the history of mankind was a healthy person quarantined? Assuming those at risk are the tiny percentage that would have died anyway why are we not asking for explanations why we should all be locked down instead of isolating only those most at risk? The answer seems to be that people living...

Ignore the Lockdown and Sacrifice Our NHS Workers.

Image
The NHS workers are the sector of our population who are most at risk of the Corona Virus Pandemic. NHS workers have to navigate safely through hundreds if not thousands of potential moments of infection every day. If we insist on ignoring the lockdown guideline, we will increase the number fo infections exponentially. Are we not then selfishly increasing their chances of contracting the disease? Don’t sacrifice the NHS workers on the altar of your own selfishness. Since it’s safer for everybody to stay indoors and isolate. We all have oodles of time so why not go and browse more of my work? Marooned for another 3 weeks.

Marooned for another 3 weeks. Great. As if we didn’t need another 3 weeks of solitude. All in a good cause I say. Great. As if we didn’t need another 3 weeks of isolation. Get Well soon Boris Johnson!

Image
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in hospital today with persistent Covid-19 symptoms. I am reposting this caricature to remind us what an important role he plays for our society and the world. God speed you and your little family Boris, all of you get well soon and we look forward to seeing you back at the helm in full health and vitality in due course. Don and Boris flattening the Curve.

Image
Donald Trump and Boris Johnson are on a wild ride! They had better hang on for all our sakes! If they don’t succeed in   flattening the curve   things will only get much, much worse. Illustration by rob@flamingpencil.com They both stand as leaders of nations that are under the most dire existential threat since World War 2. In times such as these nations are best served by more strong hawkish, conservative governments and it seems both the United States and the United Kingdom are extremely fortunate in this regard! Trump and Johnson are in my opinion doing a great job. People might be critical about some of the decisions they have made, but I salute them both. It’s easy to think you would have done better. That’s why there are so many armchair coaches, politicians, film critics and so-called experts-without-qualification. Remember a Prime Minister or President is only as good as their team of specialist and advisors. They seem to have both chosen wisely. We will all loo...
